Indian Institute of Technology (BHU) Varanasi is a public technical university located in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh. It was founded in the year 1919 as the Banaras Engineering College. In the year 1968, it became the Institute of Technology, Banaras Hindu University 1968. In the year 2012, the institute was designated as the Indian Institute of Technology.
